Montblanc’s journey began in 1906 in Hamburg, Germany, when engineer August Eberstein returned from the United States, with great ideas and techniques and the burning desire to create an innovative pen company. But to make the long journey, it needed help, and businessmen Alfred Nehemias and Claus-Johannes Voss became the first investors, followed by many other prominent names. From there, they showed the world things that no one had seen before.
The three founders needed a name for the pens they created, but what would it be? After years of thinking and choosing, the name Montblanc was chosen by the three founders. As the “roof” of Europe, this name was directly inspired by the famous Mont Blanc mountain peak. With the white of snow on the top and the black of the foot of the mountain, Montblanc has symbolized wonder and the standard of luxury.
The name Montblanc was inspired by the Mont Blanc mountain peak, as was the Montblanc logo. Montblanc’s marketing director, Wilhelm Dziambor, took the image of the Montblanc mountain peak from above and created the current logo. The idea was based on the snowy peak, 6 majestic glaciers and perfect curves, an unmistakable symbol that Montblanc has always been proud of. Sometimes people still see this symbol as a 6-pointed star, sometimes as an image of a flower, but all are the inspiration that Montblanc has brought to a new era.
Since then, the Montblanc brand has grown stronger and stronger, countless collections have been produced and loved. In 1924, when the Meistertsuck pen line was launched, it became a phenomenon and a legend until now. Montblanc has continued to develop and innovate, each of their products has left an indelible mark.
