It’s been a while since Montblanc has used Ag925 silver as a pen body like it did in the 90s. This time, things are a little different, the Meisterstuck Martelé is still crafted entirely from solid Ag925 silver, but the crafting process is much more artistic than before. The sparkling patterns you see on the pen body are called “hammered optic,” meaning that to create them, the artisans have to use a hammer to repeatedly strike the surface of the work to create random indentations. This is basically quite time-consuming, and the artisan also has to be extremely skillful to create indentations of similar depth but still beautiful.
Although Montblanc does not specifically mention whether the pens in this collection are handcrafted or machine-crafted, above all, it brings a rather new feeling compared to the previous Vermeil or Barley Corn patterned silver versions.
The Meisterstuck Martelé Sterling Silver pen currently available in stores is a new, boxed midsize version with ballpoint, suitable for personal use or as a gift.
The pen is cast entirely from Ag925 silver, and it is very rare to find a full-bodied silver version like this on the market today. The Montblanc Meisterstuck Martele Sterling Silver is even more premium than any silver version you have ever seen.
The high quality of this pen is shown in the way it is shaped. “Hammered optic” – using a hammer to strike repeatedly and create random indentations, but still maintaining the size and uniformity of the product. That is the art that has been done on this pen.
The version of the pen you're looking at is the high-end trackball version, with a midsize shape that's slightly larger than the regular Classique line.
