It’s been a while since Montblanc has used Ag925 silver as a pen body like it did in the 90s. This time, things are a little different, the Meisterstuck Martelé is still crafted entirely from solid Ag925 silver, but the crafting process is much more artistic than before. The sparkling patterns you see on the pen body are called “hammered optic,” meaning that to create them, the artisans have to use a hammer to repeatedly strike the surface of the work to create random indentations. This is basically quite time-consuming, and the artisan also has to be extremely skillful to create indentations of similar depth but still beautiful.
