Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was a Scottish writer best known for his detective novels Sherlock Holmes, which are considered a major innovation in the field of detective fiction. Montblanc has launched a line of pens Montblanc Writers Edition Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Limited Edition 1902 pays tribute to the famous crime novelist – creator of the famous detective Sherlock Holmes.
Crafted from precious brown lacquer, the color of this pen recalls the pipe often used by Holmes – an element also reflected in the wooden cap and end of the pen.
The cap and barrel of this edition are decorated with a striped pattern that resembles Holmes' coat, as well as parts of a historical map of London. The clip is inspired by the magnifying glass used by Sherlock Holmes. Behind the clip is an image of a hound made from fluorescent pigments, a reference to Holmes' story The Hound of the Baskervilles.
The cap ring is exquisitely engraved with Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s signature as well as the logo of A Study in Scarlet – Holmes’ first case. The Montblanc emblem on the barrel is made of sparkling mother-of-pearl. The 14K solid gold nib is hand-engraved with a portrait of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and a magnifying glass associated with Sherlock Holmes.
