On August 8, 1786, Jacques Balmat made the first successful ascent of Europe's highest mountain and the collection First Ascent of the Mont Blanc serves as the Maison's tribute to this historic day of climbing.
The First Ascent of the Mont Blanc Limited Edition 333 tells the story through its design. Featuring a matte gold surface treatment, the cap top is decorated with the Montblanc emblem made of Alpine granite, and the date “8 August 1786” is engraved on its ring, a testament to the purpose of pushing the boundaries of altitude and a tribute to the first day of the ascent of this great mountain.
Glaciers deep in the dark, gloomy mountain valleys have long been considered “things of the devil,” or “the realm of evil spirits.” According to some legends, dragons emerged from the glaciers in the form of winged serpents. The pen’s inlay is inspired by this ancient tale.
The specially decorated tail is inspired by the traditional pattern from Chamonix. The blue and turquoise of the cap and barrel pay homage to the legendary glacier.
